Gaspar Willmann

Born 1995, lives and works in Paris.

Through a practice that combines painting and video, united by a logic of montage and appropriation, Gaspar Willmann examines how we consume images, how they circulate, and the affective and collective impact they carry.

Gaspar Willmann graduated with honors from Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Art de Lyon (2019). He presented his work at FRAC Pays-de-la-Loire (Nantes, 2023), Fondation Fiminco (Romainville, 2021), 65e Salon de Montrouge (Montrouge, 2021), Fondation d’Entreprise Ricard (Paris, 2019). He won the Prix de Paris (ENSBA Lyon, 2019) and the Roger Pailhas Prize for its presentation with Exo Exo at Art-o-rama (Marseille, 2021). He was a finalist of the Prix des Amis du Palais de Tokyo (2022) and he is the laureate of the Cité Internationale de la Tapisserie Prize (Aubusson, 2023). He was an artist in residence at the Cité Internationale des Arts (Paris, 2020) ; Villa Belleville (Paris, 2021) ; Artagon (Pantin, 2022) ; Yishuba (Beijing, 2024) ; Fondation Salomon (New York, 2026). His work is part of public collections such as FRAC Pays de la Loire and FRAC Bretagne.
