Each of the molecular components of the mixture––water, urea and hydrogen peroxide––are isotope labeled: they contain atoms that have a differing number of neutrons than what is typically found in nature. Isotopic labeling is commonly used to track metabolic or chemical reaction products in scientific research and medical diagnostics.

The philosophy of networks draws on the metaphor of human networks applied to the physical networks of society, based on the hypothesis and capacity of a physical parallel to ensure a form of connection between individuals. Therefore establishing ties would pass by means of transport, the development of railroads, telecommunications, right up until computers and the internet.

While Antoine was completing a residency in Lithuania last January, everything revolved around the idea of movement : working, going out for drinks, grocery shopping, going to a concert. Stepping out, taking out a car, carrying out a journey, taking the car back, carrying out the journey back. Nothing could be thought of without taking the distance into account, the time required in order to cover it. Imagining the distance. Accepting the trip. Over there - geographically isolated - he however constantly referred to closeness, physical ties, a weaving of relationships, and friendships.

A thousand friends is a gathering. For the show in Vienna, the artists are sending their works, objects, digital files, video or sound. From Paris, Antoine and I are bringing pieces along with us in our suitcases. Some friends and artists are trusting us with their works for the show. Others are coming all the way to Vienna to install them, or just to drop them off. Everything has been falling into place meeting up over here. The framework of the place, the time frame, us and the works and the physical mechanics of it all. The displacement and the journey entailed a circumstance of coming together, a network of interactions subjected to a practical economy, of exchange, limited in time, constraint in volume. Mobility as the true and unique challenge for connecting.
